Jacaru Australia
The best picnics are not planned. Someone texts, you grab cheese and a bottle and go. This is the blanket for that — 125 by 145 centimetres, about a kilo, oilskin on the outside and red tartan flannelette on the side you sit on. Bindis, damp grass and sand stay where they belong.
125 x 145cm is the practical everyday size: enough for two adults and a spread, small enough that it lives in the boot without taking it over. At roughly one kilogram it is light enough to carry a long way from the car park.
The same oil and pigment treated cotton Jacaru uses across its oilskin range. Water beads rather than soaks, so you can put it down on dew-damp lawn in the morning without thinking about it.
Red tartan cotton flannelette on the underside. Soft enough to lie on directly, warm enough for an evening that runs later than you expected.
Bindis, prickles, grit and the occasional ant. The oilskin is a genuine barrier rather than a thin backing, which is the difference between a rug you trust and one you fold up early.
Produced in Australia by Jacaru, a brand that has been making oilskin gear here for a long time.
Oilskin takes pigment unevenly by nature, so the natural shade varies between light and dark brown from one blanket to the next. The tartan lining does not vary.

What size is it?
Approximately 125cm x 145cm, which suits two adults with room for food between you.
Should I size up to the XL?
If you regularly picnic as a family or go to festivals and outdoor cinemas, the 8003XL at 195 x 145cm is the better buy. For two people this one is easier to carry.
Is it waterproof?
Water resistant. It sheds dew, damp grass and light rain. It is not built to sit in standing water.
Can it go in the washing machine?
No. Spot clean with a damp cloth and air dry flat, or the oil treatment that makes it water resistant will wash out.
Where is it made?
Australia.
If you are not sure this is the right one, send us a message and a person will answer you. We would rather talk you into the correct product than process a return.
