Two layers, so nothing tangles

The top layer is a hanging rail for necklaces and chains, which is the part most jewellery boxes get wrong — lay a chain flat in a tray and it knots. Underneath sits a compartmented tray for rings, studs, bracelets and watches, each in its own space.

A mirror you can actually see by

The lid mirror is lit, and the light is stepless rather than stepped: you turn it up or down to whatever suits the room instead of choosing between harsh and useless. It is soft and even, which is the difference between putting earrings in and guessing.

Marbled leather outside, velvet inside

The shell is a marbled leather-look fabric and the lining is a matching velvet, so pieces sit against something soft rather than hard plastic. It is built to be left out on a dresser, not hidden in a drawer.

It closes properly and travels

A metal clasp holds the whole thing shut, so it can go in a weekend bag without the lid wandering open and the contents redistributing themselves.

Beige or pink

The mirror light is built in and rechargeable — there is no separate battery to buy.

How bright is it?

It adjusts smoothly from very soft up to bright, rather than in fixed steps, so you can set it to the room you are in.

Will long necklaces fit?

Yes — the top layer is a hanging rail rather than a tray, which is what stops longer chains knotting.

Is it big enough to travel with?
